In Summer 2019, the Small Grants Program, philanthropically funded by the Council for the Advancement of Global Mental Health Research, sent its first Call for Proposals for pilot projects to support new innovations and new innovators in global mental health.
It is our pleasure to announce the following recipients of the 2019-2020 Small Grant Program pilot funding:
- Catherine Carlson, PhD, MSW and Laura Cordisco Tsai, PhD, MSSW (Senior Mentor PI Milton Wainberg, MD): Cultural adaptation of Safety Planning Intervention for survivors of human trafficking in the Philippines
- Roberto Lewis Fernandez, MD and Manuela Orjuela-Grimm, MD, ScM: Coping with distress in a new context: self-coping and community resource utilization among migrant teens in the United States
- Tsion Firew, MD and Claire Greene, PhD, MPH (Senior Mentor PI Milton Wainberg, MD): Developing a screening and referral system for mental health problems among internally displaced persons in Ethiopia
- Franco Mascayano, PhD Student (Senior Mentor PIs Ezra Susser, MD, DrPH and Lisa Dixon, MD, MPH): Early Psychosis Identification Program in Chile
