Zachary Burton, Ph.D.

Dr. Zachary Burton co-founded and leads The Manic Monologues, an organization showcasing diverse mental health experiences via theatre and film to disrupt stigma. He is Managing Editor for the nonprofit The Better Because Project, where he helps individuals share stories of post-traumatic growth. Zack is a partner to AdventHealth, past advisor of Bring Change to Mind, founding board director for the Coalition for Action for Preventive Mental Health in Kenya, and advocate with The Stability Network. He has written for International Bipolar Foundation and coauthored a Devex op-ed and brief presented to finance ministers at the IMF/World Bank meetings to urge cross-sectoral investment in mental health. Previously, Zack worked in India with Stanford Seed and the Impact Management Project to help CEOs gauge impact on the UN SDGs, was a U.S. Department of Energy research fellow, and taught in Germany for the U.S. Department of Defense. He has been invited to speak for TEDx, California Hospital Association, the U.S. Department of State, and others. Zack earned his Ph.D. from Stanford University and A.B. from Bowdoin College. He lives with bipolar I disorder.
