Jaclyn Fishbach

  • 2022 Summer Intern

Jaclyn Fishbach (she/her/hers) is a rising senior in the Barrett Honors College at Arizona State University, majoring in Psychology (psychological science) & minoring in business. This summer, Jaclyn worked with Dr. Catherine Carlson. She worked on multiple projects including the Safety Planning Intervention with survivors of human trafficking in the Philippines. This intervention-based research helped train non-mental health providers how to approach and refer a case when a client expresses suicidality. She also created a Qualtrics survey used for data collection in a Hart Yoga intervention with human trafficking survivors in the Philippines. Additionally, she helped review articles for a global mental health systematic grant review. She enjoyed learning new methods of research including qualitative data coding practices and other mixed-method research approaches while applying a culturally tailored lens. Jaclyn helped with various other tasks throughout the internship including reviewing Five on Friday posts and a social media takeover. She is continuing with Dr. Carlson in the fall to co-author a paper summarizing the findings from the focus group discussions with staff in the Safety Planning Intervention. She is grateful for her internship experience and will take the skills learned within the internship and apply them to her future research.
