In 1918, in the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, the armistice to end World War I was signed. The day became known as Armistice Day. Today, in the US, it is called Veteran’s Day, a federal holiday that honors all veterans for their service and sacrifice.

In turn, it is our duty as a country to ensure that we attend to the health, including mental health, needs of all our veterans. I hope the time will come when we learn to solve the world’s problems without war. But there will always be a place for service. Today, Veteran’s Day, we honor and remember those who have served our country, and we recognize their families, who also make so many sacrifices in the name of freedom.
